Northern Virginia Real Estate: What Is REIT?

REIT - Real Estate Investment Trust

This is where a lot of investors get together and buy real estate assets. They have to own more than 75% of what the investment trust owns to be in real estate. It doesn’t necessarily have to be improvements or properties. It could also mortgage in debt, financially bad from real estate.

REIT allows for you to get involved in real estate. You could own a commercial retail center, for example, a really small portion of it.

You should also know that in REIT, 90% of the money that they made, profits have to be distributed to the shareholders and must pay out 100%. In turn, shareholders pay the income taxes on those dividends.
