Today I’m joined by Mark Davis, team leader at Keller Williams Kingstown, to tell you about an important conversation we had recently about human nature and how it concerns our business. Specifically, we were talking about how people think and how they make decisions differently in desperate situations.
As Mark summed it up, “The brain on purpose is far more powerful than the brain on panic.” It’s scientifically proven that when you’re in panic mode (i.e. furious instead of curious), the creative, problem-solving portion of your brain is cut off.
A BRAIN ON PURPOSE IS MORE POWERFUL THAN A BRAIN ON PANIC.
How does this apply to the real estate business? For the past six or seven years, we’ve been riding an incline. An upcoming shift, however, is being widely predicted. As soon as this shift happens, every single agent in our marketplace will be in panic mode and unable to make a clear decision.
How can you be purposeful, then, during this market shift? What you want to do is lead generate consistently, examine your expenses carefully, save money, and leverage out. Whether it be a virtual assistant or an on-site assistant, you need to find a way to focus on sales instead of paperwork. As we all know, no agent likes paperwork.
If you’re a producing agent in the Northern Virginia area looking for help in preparing your business for this all-important shift, you can reach out to Mark at (703) 562-1800 or MarkDavis@KW.com for a free, confidential consultation. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to call me or send me an email. We look forward to helping you.
